Prolonged straining with bowel movements, pregnancy, constipation, diarrhea, obesity, standing or sitting for long periods,and lifting, all contribute to the likelihood of developing hemorrhoids.

Hemorrhoids are very common in both males and females. By the age of fifty about 50% of people will encounter problems with hemorrhoids that will require treatment.
